Four Things To Do In Austin This Week

This feature highlights four events or activities in Austin and the surrounding area every week. If you have suggestions for events to be mentioned, please email them to info@missionmortgage.com.

1. This weekend is the Sales Tax Holiday throughout Texas, offering no state or local sales taxes on specific items, primarily geared towards helping families get ready for the upcoming school year. Along with a long list of school supplies, a large number of clothing items are also included. All retail vendors will participate. For a complete list of acceptable purchases, please click here.

2. The Long Center is screening a selection of classic films this summer and this weekend you can see an all-time favorite, The Princess Bride. The movie will show on Saturday and Sunday. “Anybody want a peanut?” Click here to learn more.

3. The 8th Annual Italian Festival will be held on Sunday from 4 – 9 pm at Laguna Gloria. The festival is a fund raiser for the Austin Museum of Art and will feature arts, crafts, jewelry, live entertainment and a collection of Italian sports cars. For more information, click here.

4. Our live music recommendations for this week are Blue October at Stubb’s on Friday, The Black and White Years at Lambert’s on Saturday, and Stereo is a Lie at Frank on Saturday. And we’re sharing a suggestion from a friend who recommends Lucas Hudgins at the Broken Spoke on Tuesday. Have a great gig, Lucas!
