The Financial Times, Ltd. has ranked Austin eighth in its Top 10 Overall American Cities of the Future list for 2011/12. The rankings included cities in Canada, The United States, and throughout Latin America. Austin ranked well in the Quality of Life, Business Friendliness, and a ranking known as the FDI Strategy.
The Cities of the Future are created with an independent collection of data by fDi Intelligence divisions across 405 cities across North and South America, through the following categories: Economic Potential, Human Resources, Cost Effectiveness, Quality of Life, Infrastructure and Business Friendliness.
