Four Things To Do In Austin This Week

This feature highlights four events or activities in Austin and the surrounding area every week. If you have suggestions for events to be mentioned, please email them to info@missionmortgage.com.

1. Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece film, Psycho, hits the big screen at The Paramount on Saturday and Sunday. This is the movie that changed the way movies scared people by diving deep into the deranged life of Norman Bates. Come see this incredible classic in air-conditioned comfort. For details, click here.

2. Learn about the role of owls in the local ecosystem with a campfire program at McKinney Falls State Park on Saturday night, followed by a guided “Owl Prowl” – a night hike in search of these incredible birds of prey. Sign up through the Texas Parks and Wildlife department. Click here for more info.

3. Austin-based novelist, Amanda Ward, will release a new book called Close Your Eyes with a special Texas Book Festival celebration on Tuesday at Lambert’s. You must RSVP for a spot and seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. You can also make dinner reservations following the presentation by contacting Lambert’s. For more information, please click here.

4. Great mix of live music available in our area this week. We’re suggesting Chicago at ACL-Live on Saturday, The Decemberists at Stubb’s on Monday, Jon Blondell Quintet at Elephant Room on Tuesday, and Jonathan Dotson and Thales Smith at Cactus Café on next Thursday.
