Artist Reception for Natasha Bonfond

The Gallery at Mission Mortgage recently hosted an artist reception to celebrate the artwork of their current exhibitor, Natasha Bonfond. The reception took place in the early evening at the Gallery with dozens of supporters and art lovers in attendance.

Mission Mortgage would like to thank Horizon Bank for their generous sponsorship of the gallery.  Their contributions help to promote the goals of the gallery and Mission Mortgage while supporting local artists and charities. We urge you to support Horizon Bank as a way to say thank you for all they are doing for our community.  For more information about the services and products they offer, please visit their website by clicking here

The reception allowed us an opportunity to hear more from the artist. Natasha Bonfond sat down with Mission Mortgage’s Michael Ikeya for a short question and answer period during the event, allowing everyone to hear her views on art and her own process for creating the beautiful artwork on the walls. It provided an inside look at Natasha’s painting and how she approches the canvas.  We learned that Natasha has been around artwork and artists her entire life and enjoys teaching others to paint.  She is looking forward to a time when she can teach young students and give them the encouragement that helped her to become an artist. She is inspired by color and capturing a specific moment when the light is just right and the scene speaks to her. These are generally peaceful moments and she crafts them beautifully onto the canvas.

A live auction was the highlight of the evening. We raised over $400 through the auction, with the signature piece, a gorgeous painting donated by Natasha, purchased by Charlie Avant of Horizon Bank. We ask each artist who displays in our gallery to donate one piece of work to be auctioned with proceeds benefitting a different local charity each quarter.

This quarter our benefit charity was SafePlace. SafePlace provides awe-inspiring assistance to women and children escaping abusive situations. Their efforts on behalf of others is truly magnificent and we were thrilled to support SafePlace.  Thank you, Charlie, for helping us to further support this wonderful organization.  We also received additional online pledges of support processed through the SafePlace website. If you’d like to donate in honor of Natasha Bonfond, please visit their website and add a note with Natasha’s name and Mission Mortgage.  Combined with the auction, we raised a total of $440 for SafePlace.

In addition to the proceeds from the live auction, we also collected an enormous stack of donations.  These items were identified by SafePlace as the things they need most in their daily operations and we were glad to provide so much. Our thanks to everyone in Barton Oaks Plaza Building V and our friends at Alamo Title for contributing so much to our donation drive. We donated everything from diapers to cell phones, toothpaste to clothing, and lots of food. Stuffed animals, games, swimming goggles and new swimsuits for the kids were among our donations. We can’t thank everyone enough for their generous support.

Donations for SafePlace collected by Mission Mortgage, with the help of Alamo Title and everyone in Barton Oaks Plaza Building V.

Adolfo Moreno of SafePlace sent his thanks for all of our efforts. Here’s what he had to say:

“The items and money you guys were able to get was absolutely great!  The event and donation drive were definitely huge successes. I’ve been to my fair share of benefit events now, but I have to say that your group was the most friendly, welcoming, and compassionate group I’ve met thus far.  Please pass along our thanks to everyone.”
