1. SXSW gets the big headlines for the next few weeks with the Film and Interactive portions kicking off this weekend. Single screening seats for most films are $10 at locations throughout Austin. Get out and see one of the hot indy flicks of the year or just go people watching.
2. For basketball fans, the UIL boys state tournament is going on this weekend at the Frank Erwin Center. The tournament started yesterday and Cedar Park lost their semifinal game. Games continue all day Friday and the championship games for all divisions take place on Saturday. Click here for ticket information. College basketball fans will be glued to the TVs this weekend as conference tournaments lead to Selection Sunday. By this time next week, March Madness will be upon us.

4. Want live music? Check out SOJA and Mambo Sauce at The Parish on Friday and Bad Veins at Stubb’s on Saturday. Local bands release CDs on Tuesday with The Band of Heathens at Antone’s and Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears at Continental Club.
