Four Things To Do In Austin This Week

This feature highlights four events or activities in Austin and the surrounding area every week. If you have suggestions for events to be mentioned, please email them to

1. Michelle Handelman presents a four-channel video art installation at Arthouse starting Saturday. The refurbished Arthouse is stunning and a huge improvement of the space at 700 Congress.  Be sure to visit the rooftop deck for stunning views of downtown.  Click here for more info.

2. College basketball is heating up and this Saturday #8 ranked Texas takes on #13 ranked Missouri at the Frank Erwin Center. Last weekend Texas knocked off #2 Kansas breaking a streak of 69 straight home game wins for Kansas.  This is a huge Big 12 matchup that you won’t want to miss.  For more information, click here.

3. Next Thursday Alamo Drafthouse – Lake Creek presents a special menu and beer pairings for its screening of Dazed and Confused.  If you went to school in the 70s, then Richard Linklater’s film will definitely resonate with you.  Click here for the details.

4. We’re recommending an eclectic mix of music this week.  JJ Grey and Mofro at La Zona Rosa on Friday.  Be sure to get there to see the opening act, That One Guy.  For your folk fix, check out Dan Dyer at Cactus Café on Saturday. Also on Saturday, legendary musician Dave Mason at One World Theatre. Pop/dance group Sugar and Gold at The Mohawk on Sunday.
