Four Things To Do In Austin This Week

This feature highlights four events or activities in Austin and the surrounding area every week.  If you have suggestions for events to be mentioned, please email them to

1.  Douglas Brinkley is a best-selling writer and historian.  He will present his latest book, “The Quiet World: Saving Alaska’s Wilderness Kingdom, 1879-1960”, at Bookpeople on Friday.  Hear Brinkley talk about his book and his writing process in a small-group setting.  He will autograph copies of his book immediately following his presentation. Click here to learn more.

2.  Run like a gorilla or just go watch others run like gorillas at the First Annual Austin Gorilla Run 5k downtown on Saturday morning. Benefitting the Mountain Gorilla Consevation Fund, all runners are encouraged to wear their gorilla suits for this recreational run.  For more details, click here.

3. If you enjoy her writing and philosophy, then plan to see a live stage performance of Ayn Rand’s “Anthem” at the Long Center.  Shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Click here for more info.

4.  I’ll be at Keller Williams at Antone’s on Saturday.  If you haven’t been, you really should see this guy play…no, he isn’t a realtor, but you Keller Williams agents out there should especially be interested! Other music worth seeing includes Adam Rogers at Speakeasy and  The Vespers at Stubb’s (inside) both on Sunday.
