CBS Evening News aired a segment about Austin and it’s success in today’s troubled economy. It was incredible to see such a positive report on our area delivered to a nationwide audience, then posted to the internet for the world to see. It’s a great cycle of growth and it seems we’ve only just begun.
The CBS report included statements such as, “According to a recent survey, Austin weathered the recession better than any other place in the country, and now leads the nation in job growth.”
And, “Thousands of talented graduates pour out of the University of Texas every year. The state has no income tax, and Austin has low taxes and house prices and a rich cultural scene.”
Another quote said, “For Austin, nurturing new companies is paying off in jobs.” This is a powerful statement when heard by the millions of unemployed people around the country.
The segment discussed BazaarVoice, Samsung, SunPower, and the Austin Technology Incubator and their impact on our local economy and labor force. Overall, the piece was quite complimentary and will help fuel the growth of our region in the near future.
