Four Things To Do In Austin This Week

Artist Jared Dunten, whose works were recently displayed in the Gallery at Mission Mortgage, will be hosting a show at his studio this weekend as a part of the Art and Wine tour. See the event website for more details. Also, please visit Jared’s website to learn more about this incredible artist.

2. High School football takes center stage as the UIL playoffs kick off this week. Stony Point takes on Westlake on Friday at Reeves Stadium, Anderson goes up against Westwood on Friday at House Park, and Bowie and Georgetown face off Friday at Burger Stadium. 3. Watch the new documentary Boxing Gym about Lord’s Gym right here in Austin at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. The movie looks at Richard Lord’s gym and the people who train there, examining the ‘melting pot’ of society that he has created. See the Alamo website for more information. The director of the movie as well as Richard Lord will be present for some of the screenings this weekend.

4. Jazz fans have a busy week with the UT Butler School of Music Jazz Orchestra playing Bates Recital Hall on Friday, followed by Jeff Hellmer Trio at the Elephant Room on Saturday night, and topped off with the legendary Ornette Coleman playing the Bass Concert Hall next Thursday (11/18).
