Central Texas Real Estate Appreciation Rates

While the national news continues to dominate headlines with horror stories of falling values and rising foreclosures, local information about the current real estate situation is harder to find. We aren’t sure why because locally, the real estate market is faring very well comparatively. Sales are slower than previously, but foreclosures remain among the lowest in the nation and median home prices are actually rising a little.

That made us curious – what has been the actual appreciation of real estate in the region over the past 10 years?  Our friend, Cindy Mokry from Alamo Title, shared with us some specifics to help us answer our question.  Measured in various time frames, it is apparent that the local area is faring well, despite the national economic challenges we are facing. The most recent quarter saw a slight decrease across the area, but it is clear from the data that over the past 10 years, 5 years, 2 years, and 12 months, area cities have performed quite well.  Here are appreciation rates broken down by city:

Georgetown:
