Knoxville, Tennessee-based Environmental Systems Corporation is planning to open a new development center in Austin, according to news reports issued this week. The company’s hiring plans for this area are estimated at 100-150 jobs, most of which will focus on software development. Austin was chosen, in part, because of our strong community of software developers. Other elements were included in the selection process, and in the end, “Austin stood out for us as the clear choice for ESC based on the rigorous analysis from our city site selection process,” according to Jack Missimer, ESC President.
A look at the ESC website provides a glimpse at the type of development that the company undertakes, and it fits right in with the Austin community. The company’s main focus is creating software that measures environmental impacts. “Environmental Systems Corporation is providing the tools that you need to evaluate business processes in order to reduce your carbon footprint,” says the company’s homepage. Their software products assist other companies in their planning and implementation by providing solutions that help measure impact of production, fleet, and stack emissions. Austin’s focus on green technologies and environmental protection surely aided our selection for ESC’s new center. While not specific to Austin, a look at the company’s jobs page provides an idea of the type of professionals they are looking to hire.
