Four Things To Do In Austin This Week

This feature highlights four events or activities in Austin and the surrounding area every week.  If you have suggestions for events to be mentioned, please email them to

1. The 2010 Parade of Homes kicks off this weekend at Rough Hollow in Lakeway. Come see seven gorgeous luxury homes in one of Lake Travis’ newest communities. Mission Mortgage is proud of our involvement with this year’s Parade. Come see us at 302 Bisset Court where we will be stationed in an incredible home built by VII Custom Homes. For more information, click here.

2. If you enjoy books, you’ll love The Texas Book Festival to be held this weekend at the Texas State Capital and various venues nearby. Listen to authors read from their books, discuss the process of writing, answer questions from audience members, and participate in panel discussions. Books will be available for sale and there are lots of children’s activities, food demonstrations, and of course some live music. Click here for more details.

3. The Oyster Racing Series hits Austin on Saturday challenging participants to run, bike, paddle, climb, and more in a race around the city. Answer clues and complete challenging tasks as you are pushed physically and mentally in an effort to complete the race. Are you up to the task? If so, visit the event website to register.

4. ACL Fest is done, but the music in Austin keeps playing. I’ll be at La Zona Rosa on Saturday night to hear EOTO. Del Castillo plays Sunday at Antone’s. Sufjan Stevens comes to the Long Center on Tuesday.
