We are so excited that the Austin City Limits Music Festival is upon us. Starting this Friday, 130+ bands will take to the stages set up in beautiful Zilker park, providing 3 days of music and fun. In honor of the festival, Mission Mortgage will be posting suggestions this week from various employees, past clients, partners and friends. We will share information about the bands we are most looking forward to seeing, the food we can’t wait to enjoy, and even some memories of years past. We hope you enjoy this series and we invite you to add your own suggestions to the comment section below.
Today, our suggestions come from Alice, our Chief Financial Officer here at Mission Mortgage. Thanks, Alice, for these wonderful tips and for sharing your memories with us.
Gary & I were so delighted with the first ACL we have made at least one day, if not all three every fall. It is the closest event Austin has come up with to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival which we attended for many years.
We are looking forward to skipping work on Friday and enjoying ACL. Bands that we have seen in the past that we will be sure to see again this year and recommend are: The Gospel Stars, JJ Grey & Mofro, Blues Traveler, Carolyn Wonderland, Pat Green and Robert Randolph & The Family Band. The most fun is discovering new groups. We allow some time to wander from stage to stage and if we hear something we like we stop for a while.
The food is great too! Our favorite is the Mighty Cone, but we can’t pass up Torchy’s Green Chili pork tacos. This year we will probably try Wahoo’s blackened fish tacos. And of course, lots of cold beer.
Our most memorable ACL moment is Steve Winwood’s performance. Not only was his voice and music prime, but when he stopped playing and told the crowd to turn around with our backs to the stage and facing west the sky was ablaze with the most glorious sunset we’ve ever seen!
Go & enjoy!
