Four Things To Do In Austin This Week

This feature highlights four events or activities in Austin and the surrounding area every week.  If you have suggestions for events to be mentioned, please email them to info@missionmortgage.com.

1.   High school football is back! Get warmed up tonight with Bowie at Pflugerville (at Kuempel Stadium), two Austin American-Statesman pre-season Austin area top 10 teams. Then head to Royal-Memorial Stadium on Saturday night to see preseason #5 Westlake and #1 Lake Travis square off in what promises to be one of the biggest games of the season.

2.   Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the quirky little bar above Katz Deli. That’s right, Momo’s turns 10 and they have scheduled a great lineup of some of Austin’s best local bands tonight and tomorrow night. Click here for all the details.

3.  Enjoy some incredible classic movies at the Long Center Cinema this weekend. We recommend Akira Kurosawa’s The Hidden Fortress (the inspiration behind Star Wars) on Saturday at 2pm and Alfred Hitchcock’s classic The Birds on Saturday at 5pm. For more information, click here.

4.   The Hot Sauce Festival features more than 350 varieties of the spicy stuff, along with live music and lots of fun. Come out to Waterloo Park on Sunday from 11 am – 5 pm and see how many you can try before your tongue goes numb! Get all the details here.
