ALERT – Change to Credit Check Policy

YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF A RECENT CHANGE TO THE LENDING PROCESS!

If you are considering a home purchase, this is absolutely critical information for you to know.  Recent changes in lending policies now require lenders to check your credit twice during the loan process.  The second credit check comes 5-10 days prior to closing your loan and is done specifically to check for any changes to your credit standing since your initial mortgage application.

What does this mean?

If you apply for a loan and are approved, you should not make any purchases or conduct any activities that will alter your credit score until the loan is closed.

  • Do not buy furniture on credit
  • Do not charge large amounts to your existing credit cards
  • Do not purchase a car to park in your new garage
  • Do not order new fixtures, flooring, or furnishings on credit

Any changes in your credit standing can impact your interest rates and could place your home loan closing at risk.
