In yet another glowing review of Austin, The Brookings Institution’s MetroMonitor has ranked the Austin metropolitan area as the second strongest U.S. Metro Economy. The rankings were based upon four key indicators: employment change, unemployment change, gross metropolitan product, and home price change. Austin ranked particularly well in job growth and gross metropolitan product. San Antonio led the rankings while Dallas-Fort Worth placed fifth, Houston ranked ninth, and El Paso rounded out the top 10. Information from Bloomberg Businessweek, June 29, 2010.
