Vote for Austin, Best Place to Live
RelocateAmerica.com has opened the voting for its 14th annual Best Places to Live poll and Austin is among the 100 finalist cities. According to a story in the Austin Business Journal, Round Rock and Cedar Park also make the list of finalists. The finalists were chosen by a process that included nominations and evaluating the cities based on those factors that are most important when relocating. Now, the top 10 will be determined by popular vote.

Gila Corp. Hiring in Austin
The Gila Corporation has announced plans to increase their workforce in Austin. The company was founded in 1991 and is headquartered here in Austin. The new plans call for hiring as many as 150 employees over the next two to five years as they grow their business. Continue reading
Debt Ceiling And The Mortgage Interest Deduction
As Washington D.C. continues to struggle to find a solution to the debt ceiling impasse, the Mortgage Interest tax deduction is firmly on the negotiating table. Currently, borrowers can deduct the amount of interest they pay on their mortgages from their principal residences and second homes. As a result, it is estimated that the deductions cost the U.S. Treasury Department nearly $100 billion per year. Continue reading

Austin #1 Boom Town in U.S.
Forbes Magazine likes Austin. In their latest city rankings, Austin placed first in the list of cities poised to grow in the next decade. Texas, in general, fared very well in the study. San Antonio placed fourth, Houston ranked fifth, and Dallas came in seventh. Continue reading

U.S. Housing Starts Up In June
New home construction saw an increase in June 2011 as housing starts were reported to have risen 14.6% by the U.S. Commerce Department. Multi-family units surged in the month, while single-family homes saw more modest gains.

EA Sports – It’s In Austin
Electronic Arts, makers of some of the most popular video games on the planet, has recently announced a new round of hiring to boost their employment in the Austin area. EA Sports is expanding in Austin and plans to hire 300 employees in the near future. EA’s Bioware software division already employs roughly 450 people in Austin.
