The Gallery at Mission Mortgage recently hosted a wonderful event to celebrate the artwork of Sonja Kever, whose work is currently on display. Guests enjoyed the opportunity to meet the artist, mingle with the other guests, and partake in a generous spread of food. Our thanks to everyone who attended.
It’s not often that one gets the chance to speak with an artist of Sonja’s talent and listen to what inspires her, what moves her, and how she approaches her canvas. We enjoyed hearing the stories behind the paintings as this is a facet of art that the viewer rarely gets. After an evening with Sonja, many came away inspired to try their hand at painting. Some now have a deeper appreciation of the process or creating art. And everyone felt good about showing support for Sonja’s efforts as this was truly what the evening was all about.
Sonja donated one painting titled Bull Creek Water Slide which was auctioned off with proceeds benefitting Foundation Communities, an incredible non-profit that helps people with their housing needs, education, taxes, and much, much more. Through the auction we were able to make a nice donation to Foundation Communities to help them continue their efforts to assist some of the people in Austin who need it most.

ABOUT THE GALLERY AT MISSION MORTGAGE
The Gallery at Mission Mortgage features a rotating display of local Austin artists. We select artists who create beautiful artwork and need an opportunity to display their works publicly. We ask that each featured artist donate one painting, which is auctioned off for charity.
Why do we do this? We’ve been doing business in Austin for over 25 years and we have been very fortunate in our success. We know that our success comes from the people of Austin and we wanted to show our appreciation by giving back to the community that has allowed us to flourish. By helping out artists and contributing to local charities, we continue the long-standing tradition of Austinites helping Austinites. It’s one of the coolest things about living and working in Austin. The pride of living in Austin comes from this continuous support of one another and we’re simply trying to do our part.
